On 26th to 28th of October UILI celebrated its annual meeting in New Delhi, India coinciding with ILAC’s meeting. During the event, different activities took place with the participation of the members of the Board, invited authorities and representatives of the laboratory community of India.
Together with the wonderful collaboration of the NABCB, ILAC secretariat and its Laboratory Commitee and AOIL the Association of Indian Laboratories the following events took place:
- Governing Board meeting
- Working Group meetings (ILP, ISO 17025 and UILI-Eurolab)
- LabTour 2016
- LabMeeting 2016
- ILAC-IAF Joint Annual Meetings and ILAC Laboratory Commitee Meeting
At the meetings the president focussed on the cornerstones of the UILI build

27th General Assembly scheduled in Bogota Colombia 25th of August 2017
UILI has as a major policy to approach the Board to the different countries members to know first-hand the problems of the laboratories in each region. Following this goal our association has programmed two relevant activities for the next year.
- 27th General Assembly: On next 25th of August the UILI Board will meet in Bogota, Colombia coinciding with its 27th General Assembly.
- LabMeeting 2017: UILI with the collaboration of ASOCOLAB (Asociación Colombiana de Laboratorios), is working in the organization of the LabMeeting 2017, a work shop event with the participation of several speakers from different countries experts in topics of current interest for laboratory business.

UILI invited the ILAC Stakeholders at its LabMeeting 2016 and focussed on the future of Accreditation

UILI with the collaboration of AOIL celebrated its annual workshop event.
The opening was made by Mr. Peter Unger ILAC´s Chairman and at the event participated several speakers from different countries experts in topics of current interest for laboratory business such as:

Challenging opportunities to improve global accreditation
- Accreditation stakeholders joining forces
Relevant decisions were made and it was a great occasion to share experiences among laboratory executives worldwide regarding relevant items for the sector such as 'Accreditation stakeholders joining forces in building the global platform to strengthen the laboratory industry'.

UILI challenges the conformity assessment industry on a non-existing level playing field
|
|
On October 31 and November 1st UILI’s representatives participated in the ILAC Laboratory committee held in New Delhi, India.
The President adressed the Laboratotory Commitee and offered UILI's kind cooperation in collecting case study material to bring to the ILAC executive the daily problems Laboratories face in the barriers accreditation creates in global trade and why accreditation does not creat a level playing field.
UILI will work together in presenting the case to ILAC.

The Association of Colombian ASOCOLAB is welcomed as a new member association. The president of ASOCOLAB (Asociación Colombiana de Laboratorios), Dr Gabriel Fonseca was invited to attend the board meeting of UILI in New Delhi where it was presented and approved the application of ASOCOLAB to become a new member of UILI. AOIL joins UILI as a member association.

|
The president of AOIL (Association of Indianl Laboratories), Dr A.K. Nehra and the chairman of this association, Dr D.S. Tewari were invited to attend the board meeting of UILI in New Delhi where they presented verbally their interest and application for AOIL to become member of UILI that was accepted by all the board. National Laboratory Association South Africa (NLA)
|
|
Drs Luc Scholtis, invited Mr. John Wilson, Vice-chair of NLA (National Laboratory Association South Africa) to attend the board meeting as an observer and his contribution was very much appreciated by the board.
Mr. Wilson also made an interesting presentation about the current situation of laboratories in South Africa.
This was a very good opportunity to start a productive relationship between UILI and NLA.

The management of FARE Labs welcomes UILI's Governing Board.

LabTour FARE Labs Pvt. Ltd.
|
|
On October 27, 2016, the Indian association AOIL organized a LabTour in Guargaon, India to FARE Labs Pvt. Ltd. FARE Labs is a Food Analysis and research laboratory. The board members of UILI had the opportunity to see first-hand the facilities and work activities of one of the most important laboratories of India.

Expert Advisory groups
|
|
UILI and EUROLAB are working together in reviewing their memorandum of understanding. The aim of both organizations is to best represent the laboratory community worldwide. UILI offered Eurolab after a very positive collaboration in the ISO 17025 working group to work together in creating different expert advisory groups. UILI would therefore implement a copy as it has been implemented by Eurolab. Members wil be invited to volunteer and the mirrored goups will work closely together.
