Proficiency Testing (PT) – Background and list of past & future projects
The Proficiency Testing (PT) program started from 1999, and have cohosted with JSAC (The Japan Society of Analytical Chemistry) from the year of 2006. In 2011, JEMCA became the only host to the program. The 71th test is presently under implementation. The appendix shows past and ongoing tests implemented by JEMCA. Read More

2. Report on UILI-ILP

2.1 The 1st UILI-ILP (Finished)

According to resolution of the UILI International Proficiency Testing Committee in September 2006, the program was named as “Inter Laboratory Practice (ILP)”.

  • Hosted by: UILI
  • Co-hosted by: JEMCA, ACIL, CCIL, AELI and VRS
  • Type of the program: Proficiency Test of heavy metal in sediment.
  • Target compound: Total Chromium (T-Cr), Total Lead (T-Pb), Total Nickel (T-Ni), Total Zinc (T-Zn) and Total Mercury (T-Hg
  • Method: Analyzing total concentration of metals in sediment.
  • Number of labs participated: 237
  • Number of labs submitted results: About 188 to 223
  • Statistical Evaluation using; z-score, bar charts of z-scores in ascending order and Youden-plot

2.2 The 2nd UILI-ILP in Japan (Finished)

  • Type of the program: PAHs and Metals in Soil.
  • Target compound: 12 PAHs and 8 Metals.
  • Sample distribution finished on 7 April 2008 (delayed).
  • Report date: 31 May 2008.
  • Number of labs participated: 122
  • Number of labs submitted results: 117
  • List of result is submitted to UILI.
  • For Japanese participants, JEMCA issued pre-report in October 2008.
  • For Japanese participants, JEMCA issued final report which includes data from Canada and USA in February 2009. Certificate for participation has been distributed among participants who reported results.
  • JEMCA distributed certificates to associations for participants from Canada and USA.

2.3. The 3rd UILI-ILP (Finished)

  • Analysis of POPs and Metals in sediment (powder).
  • 22 POPs compounds and 8 Metals.
  • For Japanese participants, prompt report was issued and distributed in July 2009.
  • Final report including results from non-Japanese participants and certificates were issued and distributed in August 2009.

  • JEMCA distributed final reports and certificates by the end of August 2010 to participants in Japan.
  • Final report for non-Japanese participants and certificates will be issued and distributed at UILI GBM in October 2010.

  • Reporting deadline: 31 March 2013 for Japanese and 4 April 2013 for non-Japanese participants.
  • Number of applicants to 7th UILI-ILP:
