The Society for Remediation of Radioactive Contamination in the Environment (SRRCE)

Outline
A year has passed since we first reported on SRRCE at the Skype meeting in 2012. Objecting to deal with radioactive contamination problem to the surrounding environment caused by the nuclear power plant accident in Fukushima Pref., SRRCE has been active since its establishment on November 2011. Dr. Tabata is now involved to the association as Vice President since November last year.

Activities since April 2012
1 Lectures
1.1 The 2^nd SRRCE Symposium - 5 March 2012, Science Museum, Chiyoda-ku Tokyo

• 6 lectures mainly field reports, and free discussion;
• Exhibition of Personal Protective Equipments;
• 231 participated.

1.2 The 3^rd SRRCE Symposium - 7 September 2012, Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex, Chiba Pref.

• 6 lectures on monitoring and measurement for decontamination;
• 144 participated.

1.3 The 4^th SRRCE Symposium - 27 November 2012, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Shinagawa-ku Tokyo

• Held in the same day of the 2nd SRRCE General Assembly;
• 4 lectures and panel discussion on contaminated waste;
• 222 participated.

1.4 The 5^th SRRCE Symposium - 12 March 2013, Science Museum, Chiyoda-ku Tokyo

• 7 lectures on decontamination issues considering society and economics;
• 150 participants.

1.5 The 6^th SRRCE Symposium - 6 September 2013, Makuhari Messe International

• Convention Complex, Chiba Pref.
• Planning to have lecture on measurement and monitoring for decontamination.
  

2 Annual Meeting

• Held from 5 to 7 June 2013 at Tower Hall Funabori, Edogawa-ku Tokyo, following the meeting held in Fukushima Pref. last year;
• 5 and 6 June 2013 - Oral and Paper Presentation;
• 7 June 2013 - Planning an International Symposium co-hosting with Ministry of the Environment, Japan.
  

3 General Assembly

• The 2^nd SRRCE General Assembly was held on 27 November 2012 at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Shinagawa-ku Tokyo;
  
• report for FY2012 and Business Plan for FY2013 had been approved;
• Got approval of applying incorporated association status.
  

4 Others

• Membership as of 18 March 2013 is, 273 individual members, 76 corporate members, and 3 association members;
• SRRCE is now preparing for English website.

JEMCA continues Proficiency Testing (PT)
